Cloud Nothings has made a name for themselves as the band that's incapable of writing a bad song. Their work is full of catchy tunes written by songwriting afficiando and frontman Dylan Baldi. The lo-fi rockers will be landing at Modernsky Lab on Friday. Support comes from Backspace.

Finnish power metal group Dreamtale is heading to China for the first time ever. The veteran musicians have seven studio albums under their belt, and they're huge among metal fans around the world.

Apr 14: Re-TROS
Since emerging from the Beijing underground a dozen years ago, Re-TROS have been among the standard-bearers for the country’s post-punk influenced indie scene. However, as they prepare to release their first album in eight years, frontman and guitarist Hua Dong promises a “remodeled” version of the band, stressing they’re not a punk act anymore.

Apr 14-15: Mark Turner Quartet
Mark Turner is hailed as the most influential tenor saxophonist of his time, which is pretty damn impressivle. He'll be landing at Blue Note this weekend for two days of what is sure to be excellent jazz music. The quartet features Mark Turner on sax, Joe Sanders on bass, Lage Lund on guitar and Marcus Gilmore on drums.

Apr 15: Cool Rhythm
Cool Rhythm is made up of guitarist Joan Gong, blues harmonica player Jason Zhang and jazz drummer Wu Zhijun. Expect an amalgamation of blues and funk peppered with other genres.

Apr 15: Machine Saves All Mankind
Machine Saves All Mankind is currently on a 24-stop tour and they'll be making their last stop at Modernsky Lab on Saturday. The band is always influenced by the cities they visit and the cultures they encounter, so expect these elements to influence their high-tech and always-evolving rock 'n roll sound.

French blackgazers Alcest are coming back to China with their latest album Kodama. The band is known for their innovative metal music and highly entertaining shows.

Apr 18: Generation Axe
Generation Axe will be shredding up the People’s Republic this month. Arguably the world’s newest supergroup, Generation Axe was formed by hard rock guitar virtuoso icon Steve Vai in 2016 and is composed of himself and fellow guitarists Tosin Abasi (Animals as Leaders), Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme, Mourning Widows), Yngwie Malmsteen and Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society, Ozzy Osbourne Band). They'll be stopping off in Beijing on Tuesday.
